since my last post. 8 miles last night on the coppers, 1 mile with dogs and then 7 at a 9:26 pace. 329 on those shoes, 393 miles for year, 1529 all time. New Asics Nimbus 10s came in today's mail. Will have to try them out. woohoo!

Started training tonight on the Pfitzinger marathon plan, 18/55.

It's a little before 18 weeks to Chicago, but I can start early, no? There are several advance weeks mapped out, so I'll figure things out as I go, but it's straightforward nonetheless.

Anyway, 4 miles on the treadmill tonight in an 8:27 pace, slight pain in my right knee, which I iced afterwards.

399 miles this year, 731 all time. 22 on the blue asics.

Hopefully I'll get the scheduled 13 mile run in tomorrow.

7 miles on the treadmill tonight, in 65 minutes. Slower pace, but I got in further than I'd hoped. 319 miles this year, 130 on the white Asics. 3 mile recovery run tomorrow. I've put in 19 miles in three days.

Well, it's been a while since I've posted but I've definitely been putting in the miles. 312 so far this year, plus 332 carried over from last, for a grand total of 644 miles since I started running, slightly further than the distance between New York, NY, and Cincinnati, OH. I got a Garmin 305 that is awesome, and a pair of Asics Gel-Nimbus VIIIs that seem to fit me really well.

Last night I clocked a new pr for the 10K through Mt. Leb, as measured by my Garmin, 49:23. I'm super psyched, and am proud of putting in a time like that less than a year after I quit smoking and started running. I'm signed up for Chicago Marathon in October, and hoping to hit 3:30, maybe a little bit less, but still have quite a bit of time to shave off, as the McMillan guestimator says that I'd be able to run somewhere around 3:51 with my new best 10K time.

Tonight, I hope to get in another 10K, but definitely at a much slower pace. Maybe on the treadmill, but hopefully outside again.

Caliguiri Great Race Pittsburgh

I ran the 10K Great Race today. Starting around Squirrel Hill, going through Oakland, and ending downtown, it's kind of hard to believe that I ran all the way. And thanks to my time, I can now say that I'm a 'basic competitor' under the standards set by the New York Road Runners Club (or whatever it's called).

Essentially, I set an ultimate goal of sub-50, came in around 52, and I'm happy. I'm getting faster - slowly but surely - and figure if I keep running 6 miles at a time, I'll lose more weight eventually. And the pace works out to a lot faster than the half marathon I ran a couple weeks ago.

In other news, my knees still ache, but I feel like as long as I deal with the pain, they'll be fine.

Also... I've started talking a friend into running a marathon next year!

So, I've decided to use this space as a running diary of sorts.

I quit smoking this summer, started running, and haven't looked back. Since the beginning of June, I've logged 145 miles, counting the half-marathon I ran last Saturday with a friend (2:00:06).

I keep track of everything via an excel spreadsheet, but I think I'm going to begin using this space as a diary. Sound good? Good.

So... I haven't run since last Saturday. Tonight, the treadmill will be getting some use. Finally. My knees killed after the 13.1. today is the first day that they don't feel 'injured.' I'm hoping for four miles. We'll see.

so, i realized a while back that I was blogging for all the wrong reasons...

I was blogging in order to get people to read my blog... I became interested in unimportant things, like 'how many people clicked on my blog today.' It wasn't obsessive, but it was somewhat juvenile, and I'm glad that I can see that now in retrospect.

Further, I just got freaked out because I realized that certain 'folks,' important 'folks,' were reading my blog, and I started to back off from the frothy, foaming at the mouth tenor of the posts that I used to put up. I'm glad to say that I've matured a bit.

So I tore my blog down. Not a day later, some squatter stole the domain. I checked it recently, and the squatter had left, apparently leaving because he realized that he was way more boring than I, an impressive feat.

So, here I am. I'm back! I'll post more on life later.
